PROFESSIONAL OBJECTIVE
Positive and focused educator seeking to challenge
and ignite in middle and senior high students an enthusiasm for
science. I desire to serve this community as an advocate of children
through the development of strong educational standards and to
participate in the development and implementation of programs
to improve the overall quality of public education.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Student Teaching - Wendler
Middle School, Anchorage, Alaska January-May 1999
- Organized, created and implemented challenging
science instruction to 138 gifted and regular students
on a 7th
grade team.
- Differentiated curriculum to meet varying learning
styles and ability levels.
- Adapted successful techniques to promote focus
and discipline while keeping complex subject matter
in a fun and
safe environment to both gifted and regular classes.
- Prepared useful, accurate, and timely student
evaluations to assess academic progress and areas for
improvement.
Inspire family involvement by contacting and consulting parents
of both achievers and those requiring additional tutoring.
- Sponsored student state winners in UAA Engineering
Week Competitions.
- Helped organize first school wide science fair
with more than 400 entries. Over 50 of my teams'
projects were
entered into the State Science Competition. Six of my students placed in
the top five in their categories.
- Employed computer technology in a unit on physics,
with students using the Internet as a research tool,
incorporated
CD-ROM interactive program to teach simple machines.
- Created a geology interdisciplinary unit centered
on the movie Journey to the Center of the Earth.

- Developed and taught geology, astronomy, and
classification units for 8th grade gifted and regular
science classes.
- Participated in daily team meeting, which included
integrated curriculum, student evaluations, parent
conferences,
and various team concerns.

Style Preference Survey (TLS) for all students.
